Duo-Gard’s custom Sleekline canopies at Moorings Park highlight the technical precision and collaborative effort behind complex architectural installations. This project involved overcoming unique design and site challenges, requiring careful coordination between our design team, the client, Professional Engineers, and installers.
One of the most intricate elements was the kite-shaped structure, which featured multiple angles and an off-center center of gravity. Balancing this design during fabrication—particularly when rotating it for welding and fit-up—required innovative problem-solving. Field installation introduced additional complexity, necessitating specialized rigging techniques to ensure precise placement.
In contrast, the V-rafter entrance canopy had a more straightforward design, but its 38-foot-long pitched rafters demanded meticulous handling. To maintain accuracy during fabrication, multiple fixture tables were precisely aligned. Interestingly, this structural feature helped simplify installation, as its V-shaped center of gravity naturally settled into place.
Through a combination of technical expertise, detailed planning, and teamwork, the Moorings Park installation successfully brought together diverse design elements into a cohesive final product.
